My Little Herd- Fall Edition 2015

It's been oh so long! If this blog supposed to be a virtual memory book for our family, I'm giving myself a D right now. I want to do better so here it goes....

Easton 3.5 years

-Loves dinosaurs! He can tell you all about their species, what they eat, how many feet they have
-Likes baseball, Paw Patrol and figuring out how things work
-Can dress himself completely head to toe
-Dislikes wearing pants
-Is quite the storyteller, I usually get an original tale every night before bed
-Likes to copy whatever Daddy does: mowing the lawn, making a fire, measuring things...

Presley 2 years

-Loves her big brother
-Likes building blocks and making original art
-Is a huge fan of Justin Bieber's song "Baby". Watches the video on repeat.
-Knows her colors
-Enjoys walking around the house in other people's shoes
-Sings constantly. Her favorite? The ABC Song
-Doesn't go anywhere without a bow. And don't even think about taking it off!

C+K

We celebrated 6 years at the end of August with a trip to the Hill Country. It was a perfect wrap to a busy summer- we floated the lazy river, ate some great food, spent some time at the spa and went horseback riding. (Photos above)

We also snuck in a trip to San Francisco a couple of weeks ago, where we also ate some great food and took zero pictures. I was actually there for a work trip, so Chris spent time seeing the city while I worked during the day but it was still a treat to hang together at the end of the day.

Special thanks to my Mom, who kept our rugrats while we escaped for a few days and is still speaking to us.

And oh, we're having another baby!

E Turns 3!

On the tail end of the holidays, Easton had his 3rd birthday. I often hear parents say, "I can't believe my child is already turning this age" and I certainly understand that sentiment. But it's also kinda hard for me to remember life before he was here. I won't get all mushy right now but I'm beyond thankful for our kind-hearted, smart, strong-willed, curious, loving, little boy.

Airplanes are everything right now, so we took that and ran with it...

He was so appreciative and excited for each gift. He told me, "Mommy, I'm SO happy!"

The party wore these two out...

Special thanks to Josh & Katie for taking this family pic...

Holidays

The holidays already seem like a zillion years ago but I'm just getting around to uploading all the pictures and re-living all the sweet moments. We all know the holidays can be crazy and busy and can have me feeling like this....

or this....

I truly love the holidays and despite our moving right in the middle of the season, it was a quite calm, relaxing, family-filled, beautiful time. We were grateful to host Christmas with Nani and Papa and bring in the new year with Mimi, Grandpa and all the cousins.

Cheers to 2015!

Christmas Program

Easton's school hosted their annual Christmas program over the weekend. You might remember last year he was front and center and so eager to sing even if he didn't actually know any of the lyrics. Well, this year was the opposite of that. He's done plenty of singing around the house the past few months so we knew good and well he knew the songs. But when game time rolled around he looked like a deer in headlights. He told me right before he didn't want to sing and he was right.

I took a short video but my video upload isn't cooperating- don't worry though, you aren't missing much.

In other news, Presley nailed her Santa picture.

And after witnessing that Easton wasn't about to have any part of it. Chris and I were too busy laughing to rescue her and I'll admit I feel a tiny bit guilty about that now.

She recovered just fine and I love this precious picture of her and her teacher. These two started at this school on the same day and have the sweetest bond.

Even when the night's a fail, it's still a win. :)

Thankful

We have SO MUCH to be THANKFUL for starting with these two hams.

E had a Thanksgiving lunch at his school last week and we took a moment to take a selfie.

We also had tons of fun relaxing in the countryside over the holiday. I wasn't very good about taking pictures but I stole a few from Chris. As always, there was lots of four-wheeling, hunting and running around in nature.

I love this picture he took near the lake. For me, this little piece of Earth is the most peaceful place in the world.

Speaking of peace, Presley has been really in to pulling hair lately. I captured these pictures of her in the act. I put the camera down right before the screams began.

We're now moved in to the new house. That is, if having tons of unpacked boxes in your garage counts as "moved in".

Oh well, that's what weekends are for. Hope everyone has a great one!

Pumpkin Patch 2014

Last year, we were so eager for Fall that we hit up the pumpkin patch and local farm early in the season one of the first weekends they opened. That proved to be a big mistake. It turned out to be a 90 degree day and between a newborn, a toddler and a Midwest husband who's never acclimated to the Texas heat, we lasted about 30 minutes.

This year we decided to wait it out. We waited it out so long that when we finally went they were closed for the season. Lucky for us, the weather had turned out nice that day and they still had some pumpkins left so they decided that morning to open the gates. Thank goodness. That would have been an interesting hour in the car on the way home.

This farm typically attracts around 10,000 people each day during the peak season and on this day there were less than 10 so our failure to check the internet sort of worked out in our favor.

Easton enjoyed having free rein of the bouncy mat....

And we had the undivided attention of all the goats...

Here's three years of this pumpkin face...

Until next year....
