"Singing"

Last night Easton's school hosted their annual Christmas program and if you've never seen a group of toddlers attempt to sing Christmas songs I’m here to tell ya you’re missing out.

Easton was the ham of the group and we weren't sure if we should be proud or pretend we were actually the parents of the sweet little girl in pink politely sitting next to him.

This photo was snapped shortly before the program started. Chris was originally standing in the back of the room so he could keep an eye on Presley but E must have been concerned that his Dad was going to miss the show because he would not go to his seat until Chris was in full view at the front of the room.

One of the other moms and I tried to bribe our boys with Hot Wheels but somehow the teachers did manage to get everyone to sit in their chairs. And despite the fact that you don't see any mouths moving, this is in fact during the "singing" part of the program.

Afterward we stopped by to see Santa, who may or may not be related to one of Easton's classmates. As Chris and I predicted, he wasn't sure what to think of him.

We found Easton's picture hanging on the school Christmas tree. Isn't that the face of an angel?

Here's video from the program which is equally precious and hilarious.

The Parents (Old)

Chris and I are busy but doing well. Chris just accepted a promotion at work and I just started back at my job. It's been an adjustment for all of us but it feels like we're settling in now and on most days, I get to pick up these sweet faces from school early.

Football & Friends

We were so happy to host our good friends, The Moodys for the weekend. Taylor is a University of Texas Alum and had tickets to the UT vs OSU game on Saturday so he and Chris got away to cheer for the Longhorns while Ashley and I stayed back and managed the home front. He even got Chris to wear burnt orange.

Landon was born just one month before Easton and it had been a while since they'd seen each other but it didn't take long for them to bond (and get into trouble together). Landon was crazy about the Cozy Coupe and I was happy to see it getting so much use. Good thing he'll be getting one for his birthday in a few weeks.

Later that night, we went out for an adults only dinner at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse while cheering on our Baylor Bears who are, dare I say it? NOW 9-0!!!

I am so thrilled we got to hang all weekend and that they got to meet our sweet girl.

A Happy Harris Halloween

Halloween is so fun! I kind of forget how fun it is to dress up your kiddos, hand out candy and see all the crazy and creative costumes people come up with. And for us- all from our own front porch! (I prefer to hand out candy with a baby in one hand and a glass of wine in the other, but that's just me).
Anyway, yesterday Chris's office hosted a mini Halloween bash so I packed up my baby kitten and little Batman and headed there.

The whole office really went all out decorating and dressing up. In fact, it was so dark and spooky we didn't get many clear pictures.

For Easton, it was way more fun to take the candy out of the pumpkin and put it back in than actually collecting candy.

At home, Chris always carves the pumpkins and trick-or-treaters are always impressed by his handiwork. This year he carved Pac-Man and a very scared ghost.

And finally, Batman caught in action on tape!

One Sweet Day

I haven't been too on top of blogging lately but not really for the reason you may think. Yes, keeping up with a toddler and a newborn is enough to keep one plenty busy but mostly, it's because we've been so mellow lately and there hasn't been too many major happenings to report. That said, I don't want to forget even the small things. So here's a glimpse inside our little world right now.

I'm enjoying my time off and soaking up as much of these babies as I can.We try to go outside everyday and the weather is finally nice enough that we can do it without risking heat stroke. We usually just go down the street to check the mail or see the "momo" (windmill) or to the park. Even for short walks, I get nervous if I don't at least have a small diaper bag packed for emergency situations so though I'm getting better at it, getting out the door can be quite the event. Here we are after I've finally got everything and everyone loaded in the stroller.

Easton is becoming more independent at the park making it easier for the three of us to go. Before, he would only slide if we went together but now he'll go alone and I can just hang at the bottom with Sweet P and catch him.

Speaking of, here's our sweet P. Isn't she yummy?

I usually feel brave enough to go out solo with the munchkins once or twice a week to run a quick errand. Most of the time it's a positive experience but sometimes I find myself having to apologize to fellow patrons and racing to the checkout. I think whoever invented the ipad must have had kids.

Today we went to Target and E was so over being in the cart. He insisted he walk behind me. Very slowly. At one point there was enough distance between us that a staffer approached to ask him who he belonged to. I snapped this photo.

He's my helper around the house and likes to help with laundry, unloading dishes and tending to his sister. I do sometimes have to remind him to please not push the swing at full speed but most of the time, he's very gentle with her.

Here, these two are glued to an episode of Bubble Guppies. Yes, we watch TV at our house. Easton is obsessed with Bubble Guppies. Obsessed.

Being silly....

We're keeping it pretty simple these days but life with these two is sweeter than ever.

It's Fall Y'all

Football. Beautiful weather. Comfy fashion. The beginning of the holiday season.
What's not to love about Fall? In Texas, it can't come soon enough. We're more than happy to say goodbye to the 100 degree weather days. Over the weekend, we were excited to get in the spirit and made our second annual visit to the Pumpkin Patch at Sweet Berry Farm. While we were expecting a crisp Fall day, it turned out to be 92 degrees with about 250 percent humidity. Chris was quick to ask me to remind him why it is again we live in Texas. Despite the weather, we had a good time and it was fun to compare the difference a year makes.

Last year, Easton was 10 months old and not quite walking but this year he zipped through the cornfield maze. If you make it to the end of the maze, there's a bell you get to ring.

Ringing in the bell with mommy in 2012...

....and with daddy in 2013

                                                        2013

I don't think Easton has any idea what this is but it was fun to play with.

Look at all those pumpkins!

Best of all, this year we have this new 'lil pumpkin.

Happy Fall!
